These Little Holes Could Play a Big Part in Climate Change

Cryoconite holes, shallow puddles six to eight inches deep on the surface of glaciers, are home to unique ecosystems of species from across the globe. Because they are darkly colored, these ecosystem attract sunlight and are speeding up the glacier melting process, but they are not considered in current climate change models.
