Targeted killings or assassinations beyond the battlefield remain a highly charged subject. Most controversial of all is the number of civilians killed in US covert and clandestine drone strikes since 2002.

The New York Times (7/13/16) had a piece headlined “For Whites Sensing Decline, Donald Trump Unleashes Words of Resistance.” As FAIR contributing analyst Adam Johnson put it on

If there’s any debate right now in the major U.S. media regarding blowing people up with missiles from drones, it’s about “transparency” (official reporting on who’s killed) or death counts of those people

As protests over the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile erupt across the nation, the media has remained mostly silent on the death of another unarmed African-American citizen who was killed by an off-duty police officer in an almost gang-style execution.
